A Birthday, Thanksgiving, Family Fun and Babysitting

Kevin and I had a great and fun filled Thanksgiving week! It started off with Kevin's birthday on Tuesday the 24th. I had to be to work early so I woke him up at about 4:45 in the morning to give him his gifts... kind of mean, but I knew that neither of us could/wanted to wait until later that night. I (along with my parents and grandma) got him a Benelli Super Nova. For those of you who are like me and do not speak "gun" the Super Nova is a pretty cool shot gun. I also got him a new hoodie. We also went out to dinner at The Fortune Cookie, a really good little Chinese place. From where I stood he had a pretty good birthday, and Kevin tells me that he did. Happy 24th birhday babe!!!

This year for Thanksgiving we were up in Heber with my family. It was our year to get together with my Mom's extended family. We rented a church and had about 65 people there. We had some great food and it was great to catch up with a lot of family that we don't get to see that often. After we ate and all the tables and chairs were cleaned up all the kids (including Kevin, Tyson and Heather) played a very physical game of dodge ball. I am so surprised that none of the little kids got knocked out after gettign hit with some really fast/hard balls. It was a pretty great day!
Friday we went shooting. Kevin had a great time shooting his new gun and Spencer McCall and Garrett did a great job! I had fun launching the clay piceons for them to shoot at. It was a pretty great day!

Saturday was fun as well. Of course we watched the BYU/Utah game... GO COUGARS!!! I am so happy that they were able to pull off the win! Kevin, however, was not so happy. Looking on the brightside for both situations, we made it through another rivalry game without killing each other, and that is definitely something that we can all be excited about! Saturday night Kevin and I were able to watch Emry. We got to play with her, feed her, change her and even put her to bed... I think that the practice we get with Emry will really help us out some day when we have a baby of our own. Emry is such a cute and happy baby, we love her so much and jump at any chance we get to see her!

All in all we had a great Thanksgiving break! Can't believe that Christmas is just arround the corner, this year has gone by so fast! We want all of you to know that we are thankful to have you in our lives and hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving!

It's Been Forever!!!

WOW! I really can't believe how long it's been since I blogged last! I guess if you don't really have anything to say then there is really no reason to blog! :) I have just been really busy with school and the usual life issues that I deal with on a daily basis. We are doing great. We had a fun Halloween weekend, starting with the great "Grundeland Party" on Friday night. On Halloween day we went and saw "THIS IS IT!" the Michael Jackson movie. It was a good show and gave a small glimpse of how awesome the concert would have been. After the movie we headed up to Heber to spend the rest of the night with my family. We had a really good weekend!

Hope everyone is doing well and I hope that I can stay on top of things better and actually get to blogging again! But who knows... this is ME we are talking about!

Watching Little Miss Mae

Last week Jess called me and asked if I could watch Emry while she went to the dentist... Of course I said yes and was so excited to spend some time playing with my favorite baby girl... BUT seeing as Little Miss Mae has an agenda all her own, this is what she did the ENTIRE TIME I was there to watch her! Ha just my luck :) but isn't she cute while she sleeps?!?!

Any Ideas?

Hello everyone! Yes we are still alive... I have just been a huge slacker on posting! Not a whole lot going on with us, just work and getting ready to go back to school. Kevin recently had his very last doctor's appointment for his leg. He is now fully healed for the most part. Now it is time to start looking into the possibility of getting the 2 screws taken out. As for me I have just been working... Not sure what to do about the whole job thing. As the kids that I watch get older I have started wondering how much longer my job will go on. I am thinking that I need to start looking into new job opportunities. The only thing that I worry about is that being a nanny for almost 3 years has not given me much to brag about on a resume!!! SO I have decided to open my dillema to all my faithful friends (meaning you!!!) Does anyone have any ideas for me??? If so PLEASE let me know!

And I'm Off!!!

Tomorrow night I will be getting on a plane and heading to the BIG APPLE!!! My little sister McCall has a dance convention so I am going to keep my Mom company while Call is in all of her classes. I am very excited to be going, BUT I am also sad at the same time... this will be the longest that Kevin and I have been apart in our short 9 and a half months of marriage. He is excited for me to get away and have a break from crazy life and work, and he ensures me that he will be fine but I am still sad to be leaving him. I mean it's not like I will be gone for just a couple of days, I won't be back until next Saturday. So anyone reading this, and who has the time and his number, please check in on my poor husband! Remind him that there are prepared meals in the freezer and all he has to do is follow the directions written on top! :) And remind him that I will MISS HIM SO MUCH!

Vegas!!!

We went to Las Vegas last weekend for Dan and Marti's wedding, and a little bit of a vacation! We had a really great time... It was great to get out of town and have a little break! We stayed at the Luxor Hotel, it was pretty nice, we just had to walk pretty far to get to some things. Here are a bunch of pictures from our very fun, but much too short trip.

We went to Fremont Street on Friday night. They had a really cool light show and lots of good music.

Me and the airheaded Yellow M&M

Kevin with the sexy, Green M&M.

At the M&M Megastore they had this background of Vegas...

Me with the giant Egyptian guy that was at the entrance of our hotel.

One of our taxi rides. This was the first time that I had ever been in a taxi... Let me tell you these drivers DO NOT mess around! You tell them where to go and THEY GO!!! Brett is up in the front, he recently broke his foot and got to be pushed everywhere in a wheel chair... or as we called it, his stroller!!!

Kevin and me at the wedding. It was held in a really pretty garden, next to a beautiful lake. It was a beautiful day and the wedding turned out great!

The girls and the bride... Erin, Jamee, Megan, Marti, Jamie and Cassidy

The boys and the groom... Marcus, Kevin, Brian, Dan, Brett and Brandon

This guy was pretty cool to watch... All painted up with silver paint.

The famous Margaritaville nachos

On the way home... He had so much fun and was so tired!!! :)

Look who's back on the bike!!!

So, Sunday was Kevin's first day back on the bike after he broke his femur back in February. He promised me that he wouldn't ride until May, and he definitely held true to his promise, (kind of surprising I know! ha ha) We arrived at the Tooele track around Noon and didn't leave until about 4! It was a long day and he definitely got his fill of riding. He was so excited to ride again and he did so well! I was very proud of how careful he was his first couple of laps around, and then he picked it up and even jumped the 90 footer! It is amazing to me that after such a long break from riding, and a surgery he got back on and looked just like he had never left! I must admit that I was a little nervous at first, but once I saw him take off I was so excited for him, and that he was back doing what he loves to do... I was a little hard to pick him out from the other riders because he looks so different, the numbers are gone from his bike, and he is in different gear, which is now red and white instead of dark grey, and he is in a different helmet as well. (His old helmet and gear didn't make it through the wreck!) I is great to see him back on the bike! It is proof that he is getting better, and has made a very impressive recovery!

Supercross

Last weekend we got to go to Rice Eccles Stadium for Supercross. It was so much fun, even though it was freezing and rainy, every single race had a really great battle going on! And of course in the 450 Main BUBBA STEWART WON! It set everything up perfectly for Vegas where he once again took the number 1 plate! Way to go Bubba! Kevin got to meet quite a few riders and was very excited about that! Here are a few pics from our fun filled Saturday...

KEvin with Mike Metzger... One of the greatest freestyle riders, and also one of the nicest guys in the sport!!!

Kevin and his favorite racer... Yes this is the James "Bubba" Stewart... Once again the holder of the #1 red plate!!! (That means he's the best!)

Ryan Villopoto from behind, getting ready to head out to practice. He actually took first place in Vegas, Kevin says he is going to be really good in the outdoors this year, so we'll see!!!

Little Miss Emry Mae Rikli

So last night, we FINALLY got to meet Emry! Emry Mae Rikli was born on April 3rd (two weeks ago today!) she was 4 weeks early and weighed in a 5 lbs. 3 oz. Because she was so early Emry was not quited strong enough to eat on her own and had to stay at the hospital for a few days before she could come home. We are so happy that she is now home and doing very well! We waited what felt like FOREVER before we got to meet her. Here are a few pics of our visit, and I must say that this little girl is simply beautiful!

I loved holding her! She is just a teeny little cuddler!

Kevin was so excited to finally get him some Emry time! He thinks she is the cutest thing ever! He just kept saying, "She is so tiny!"

She is just sooo cute!
We are so excited for Cole and Jess! And we are so happy that Emry is finally home and doing so well! She is a beautiful funny little girl! She is a feisty little one and really hates her oxygen and enjoys pulling it off! Her mommy calls her "Little Miss Mae" and it is the perfect little spunky nic name for her! We love her and we are so excited to welcome this little joy into our family!

70% Healed!

So we went to Kevin's doctor appointment yesterday. His leg is looking so good! Dr. Olsen said that he wants to see him back in 6 weeks and that will probably be our last follow up visit! he said that at that next visit Kevin should be about 90% healed, so we figure that puts him at about 70% healed now.

Here is Kevin, this is as we were packing up for the Sand Dunes for Easter weekend. This is the first bike he has ridden since his wreck! And when May hits he will be back on his dirt bike! He is so excited and I am very excited for him! We are so thankful that he has healed so well and that he hasn't had any problems with his leg! Thanks everyone for all of your support throughout this whole process!

Easter Weekend

This year we headed out to the Sand Dunes for Easter weekend. We always have a good time out there along with the thousands of other people! We had a great time camping with Brett and Jamee, and Dan and Marti, along with a bunch of new friends. We also had fun visiting the crazy other camp of friends. It was nice to get out of town and camp and hang out with friends, not to mention the great food we ate!

The weekend was also a milestone for Kevin, it was his first time back on something with a motor after his accident. He had a lot of fun being able to ride. He isn't back on his bike yet, so we doubled up on the 4 wheeler, and he only ALMOST rolled us TWICE! ha ha! It was great to see him enjoying himself, even though he is really anxious to get back on his bike... he had a hard time watching Brett and Dan jump and mess around on their bikes and not being able to hit the jumps with them. But May is coming very soon and he'll be back on his bike in no time!

We don't have any pics because it is really hard for me to take pictures of him riding, when we're riding together! Hope everyone had a good and fun filled weekend!!!

hmmm....

Okay, well I haven't updated for awhile so here it is. Guess who is walking?... yep KEVIN IS! He is finally off the crutches 100% and he is even back at work! We are both really excited about these things! He is doing really well and everything is healing just the way that it should! He has another appointment with the doctor on the 16th of this month for more x rays. It is really crazy to see all of the new bone that is forming! He isn't able to ride... yet, but he has gotten all of his flexibility back and can actually bend his leg all the way back and into "kick start" position, but doesn't have the strength to actually kick the bike over yet, and as he and his friends always say, "If you can't kick it, you can't ride it!" so he is staying true to that and isn't even going to try until at least May. We are however going to the dunes for Easter weekend with the 4 wheeler and we are really excited to get out there! We just got him a new helmet since his was totally mangled after that wreck, and he is still deciding on the gear that he wants, since all of his got cut off...
As for me, I am just hanging out. Attending a bunch of baby and bridal showers. Jess (Kevin's cousin's wife) just had her AMAZING baby shower, I am going to Chelsey's (another of Kevin's cousin's soon to be wife) tonight. A big thanks to Jayme and Krystal for providing me with the great gifts!! Heather and Tyson's wedding is coming along pretty well, still planning... And that is about it.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Update

So life has been rather boring lately. Kevin is still crutching around, and is getting a lot more mobile. He can now bend his leg at a 90 degree angle again, and he can also lift it. It's funny how much you learn to appreciate mobility! Since he is getting so much better with his leg, I "gave him back his driving privileges!" He doesn't go out much by himself, which I am thankful for; because I worry like crazy that some other freak accident will happen and we'll be back at square one, but at least he has the option to get out more. (Watching him go up and down all those stairs still makes me very nervous!!!) He is going pretty stir crazy being cooped up in the house all the time. He is so ready to go back to work!!! He has his next dr. appointment on the 19th and will hopefully get clearance to start putting pressure on it and get walking again... He is really excited for that, he is going to start looking for a "cool cane" to help with the walking process, so if any of you have ideas on where to get one please let us know!

Kevin's Accident

Saturday was a pretty hard day for us! During Kevin's LCQ race up in Heber there was an accident. As he went off the jump, on his way to moving into first place, his and the other guy's bikes hit in the air. This sent Kevin's bike all funny and he ended up wrecking. He pretty much got shot over the bars and hit the ground, the bike came tumbling after and just drilled into him. As I was watching I knew something was wrong because he wasn't getting up, and Kevin ALWAYS gets up! I ran out onto the track, he just kept saying "It's broken, I know it!" and yes he was correct! He definitely had a broken femur! The EMTs put traction on it and ended up stretching his leg 4 INCHES!!! He got an ambulance ride to the Heber Valley Medical Center. There he got some x rays to inspect the damage. The break was very clean, and right in the middle of the bone (which is a great place, because it's not too close to the hip, and not too close to the knee) so for as bad as it was, it couldn't have been any better! We got a consult from Dr. Gordan Olsen, the orthopedic surgeon and set the surgery for 8:30 A.M. on Sunday morning. The surgery went great, and Dr. Olsen said that there wasn't even that much blood loss. Kevin ended up getting a nice rod through his bone and 2 screws to hold it in place, one just below the hip and one just above the knee... and then a bunch of staples to put the skin back together. Kevin was finally released from the hospital at about 8:30 P.M. on Tuesday night. He is now safely tucked away at his parents house for a day or two before he braves the stairs up to our apartment. Thanks to everyone for your love and support! It means a ton to us!

Here is the x ray of his leg, pre surgery.

Right after surgery in his "cute, fluffy" blue surgery hat.
After they brought him back to the room he was so doped up he asked me "I just don't get why they wouldn't let you bring your camera in there with me!!!" Ha ha it was so funny!

Here are the staples. The big set is from where they put the rod in, the smaller sets are where they put in the screw to hold the rod in place. There are also a couple small sets of staples down above his knee where the other screw was put in. The screws hold the rod in place.

Just one of the many patches of road rash. He also has his arms all bandaged up.

First Treatment

So... Last night I had my first laser treatment. Ha ha it was a rather interesting experience. When I went in for my consult and to sign the papers I was told to let the hair grow out for about a week so they could take pictures on my first treatment to kind of document everything... so I went in with really nasty hairy pits! So, the lady took pictures, THEN proceeded to SHAVE MY PITS! Needless to say it was a tad awkward! Kevin was laughing so hard I thought he was going to fall out of his chair! OH and did I mention my arm pits are VERY ticklish, so I am laughing as she is rubbing them with all the goop, then KEVIN just has to say to her, "careful if Megan gets laughing too hard she will snort!" I really couldn't believe he said that! (actually yes I can!)

So after she goops up the skin she has us put on some great looking glasses. Then came the painful part... the LASER! duh duh duh. They blow VERY cold air on the area as they laser it. I didn't look at the laser but Kevin described it as looking like the hand held scanner gun that they use at the grocery store. So she places it to the skin, and when she pushes the little button it feels like a needle going onto your skin, and then there is a surge of electricity that runs through your muscle... OWIE! The pain is bearable but I am definitely glad that the treatments are 8 weeks apart! But as for today, there is no pain... supposedly the pain that I would be feeling is comparable to that of a sunburn... Ha ha what an experience!

ALSO for anyone who is interested Kevin will be racing this weekend in Heber at the Wasatch County Events Center. The actual races begin at 5:00 Saturday night, but we will be there ALL DAY! So give me a call and stop on by and keep me company! ;)

Superbowl Sunday

For the Superbowl we went to Kevin's aunt Jackie's and Wiggins' house. We had a lot of fun! It was great to see Jackie, Wiggins, Cole and Jess! Jess is looking cute with her little baby girl bump. Everyone had fun with the 3D glasses, but of course I didn't take the camera! The guys stayed glued to the TV for the whole game and us girls had a fun time hanging out around the kitchen enjoying some "girl talk". It was a fun night! Thanks everyone!

No More Shaving!!!

Well, the arm pits anyway! A few weeks ago I was at a Bridal show with my mom and sisters, and we happened to stumble accross a booth for American Laser Centers. We entered the drawing. The lady told us to enter everyone that we could. So I entered myself and Kevin... well a couple days later I got a call on my phone saying that Kevin had won the GRAND PRIZE of $1,500!!! so after going to the consult and talking to the lady my wonderful husband decided to pass the gift card along to me! So I am going to start my treatments next Tuesday! Eventually after 6 treatments I will be done with the shaving of the pits forever!!! I am so excited!!!

They are perfect for each other. The big day will take place on May 21st in the Salt Lake Temple. It is pretty weird that my LITTLE sister is getting married, but we're all very excited!

Aren't they such a "cute " couple?!? Ha ha they are such dorks! But we love them anyway!

Merry Christmas!!!

Hey! Hope everyone had a great Christmas! We survived our first married Christmas and the juggling of two families... hopefully we will get better at it in the future! ha ha. All in all it was a great holiday, except for the fact that we forgot to take pictures. I got about a week and a half off of work! IT WAS GREAT!!! I actually got to watch T.V. and lounge around in my pajamas all day who could ask for more?
